Republican Marsha Blackburn Wins Tennessee Gubernatorial Election

Marsha Blackburn won the Tennessee gubernatorial election with 45.5% of the vote. She defeated Democratic opponent Jerri Green, who received 43% of the vote in a race decided by a margin of two-and-a-half percentage points.

Green campaigned on a progressive platform that proposed a living wage, paid family leave, and paid childcare for all. Her platform also called for a moratorium on data centers and the termination of private prison contracts.

Despite the narrow result, the election has received limited media attention compared to other electoral outcomes across the Southern United States.
