Election Commission Publishes Draft Voter Rolls for Haryana and Andhra Pradesh

The Election Commission of India published draft electoral rolls for Andhra Pradesh and Haryana on July 31, 2026, concluding the enumeration phase of a Special Intensive Revision conducted from June 15 to July 24. The revision aimed to cleanse voter lists by removing deceased, duplicate, or shifted electors.

In Andhra Pradesh, the process resulted in the deletion of nearly 45 lakh voters, including 15.22 lakh deceased individuals, 22.30 lakh who shifted or were absent, and 7.37 lakh duplicate entries. Chief Electoral Officer Vivek Yadav reported that 3.71 crore electors submitted forms, representing 89.22% of the pre-revision total. In Tirupati district specifically, officials identified 287,826 cases of absent, shifted, deceased, or duplicate voters, noting a 13 percent anomaly rate detected via software scrutiny.

In Haryana, the commission collected over 1.72 crore enumeration forms from 83.61% of the state's 2.06 crore electors. This effort identified 7.66 lakh deceased electors, 2.04 lakh duplicate enrollments, and 24.13 lakh electors categorized as permanently shifted or absent.

Political parties participated extensively by nominating Booth Level Agents, including the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party, NTR Telugu Desam Party, Bharatiya Janata Party, and Indian National Congress. Citizens may now file claims and objections via Form-6 between July 31 and August 30. The final electoral rolls for both states are scheduled for publication on October 3, 2026.
