Accord Party Disavows Chris Imumolen Ahead of Osun Election

The Accord Party formally distanced itself from expelled former presidential candidate Chris Imumolen after he endorsed All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate Senator Bola Oyebamiji at a campaign rally in Osogbo. National Chairman Maxwell Mgbudem dismissed Imumolen as a "political hireling and hustler" who lacks the electoral structure to influence the August 15 election, further rejecting claims that Imumolen leads a party faction.

Ahead of the polls, Accord predicted a landslide victory for the incumbent, Governor Ademola Adeleke. The party accused the APC of utilizing violence, harassment, and federal institutions—specifically the police and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission—to intimidate voters and suppress the state government.

Accord called on the Independent National Electoral Commission to ensure a transparent process and urged international observers from the European Union, African Union, ECOWAS, the United States, and the United Kingdom to monitor the election to ensure neutrality.
