PAS and Umno Coordinate for Malacca State Election
PAS President Abdul Hadi Awang and Umno Vice-President Khaled Nordin established an electoral pact in Malacca as a potential blueprint for the next general election.
PAS President Abdul Hadi Awang and Umno Vice-President Khaled Nordin announced an electoral cooperation between Perikatan Nasional (PN) and Barisan Nasional (BN) during the Malacca state election nomination day. The two leaders signaled that this arrangement could serve as a blueprint for the next general election and extend to the federal level.
Hadi Awang stated that the parties are committed to coordinating election machinery and resolving differences to ensure victory. Khaled Nordin described the pact as a necessary formula to foster unity among Malays and secure electoral wins, noting that such cooperation should have materialized five years ago. This partnership follows the 2019 collapse of the Muafakat Nasional alliance.
While Umno and PAS are coordinating in Malacca, tensions remain within the broader opposition. Bersatu is fielding candidates under its own logo in several constituencies, including Sungai Udang, where it is contesting against BN.
