Piyush Goyal Announces Expanded European Market Access for India

Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal announced that trade agreements with the EU, UK, and EFTA will drive large-scale investment and expand market access for Indian industry.

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal announced in The Hague that trade agreements with the European Union, the United Kingdom, and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) will expand market access for Indian industry. He stated that these pacts are designed to drive large-scale investment and employment while facilitating technological collaboration across services, education, and labor-intensive sectors.

Goyal noted that these agreements align with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Viksit Bharat 2047 vision, specifically benefiting micro, small, and medium enterprises, as well as the fishing and farming communities. While the India-EU Free Trade Agreement remains a proposed framework for deeper ties, the agreements with the UK and EFTA countries are existing frameworks intended to expand commercial opportunities.

The minister characterized the current environment as one of great enthusiasm, asserting that the agreements effectively open the entire European market to Indian industry and provide immense potential for bilateral growth.
