Brazil Supreme Court Unseals Corruption Probe Into Flávio Bolsonaro

The Supreme Court of Brazil unsealed documents on September 10 revealing a corruption, money laundering, and tax evasion investigation into Flávio Bolsonaro. The probe centers on 61 million reais (US$12 million) provided by banker Daniel Vorcaro to finance a film titled 'The Dark Horse' about former President Jair Bolsonaro.

Prosecutors suspect the funds were diverted to cover the expenses of Eduardo Bolsonaro and to support political activities involving the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump. Daniel Vorcaro, who was arrested in March, is accused of defrauding hundreds of millions of dollars from Banco Master clients, including state pension funds.

Justice André Mendonça opened the investigation in July, and Chief Justice Luiz Edson Fachin later ordered the release of the documents to increase transparency. Flávio Bolsonaro has denied any wrongdoing, claiming he was simply seeking private investment for the film. The legal developments occur as Flávio competes in a tight presidential race against President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, with the first round of voting set for October 4.
