Adnoc Restores Ruwais Refinery to Full Capacity
Abu Dhabi National Oil Co. restored the Ruwais refinery to full capacity following a March drone strike by Iran that halted operations.
The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company restored the Ruwais refinery to full capacity approximately one month ago. The facility had been halted in March after an Iranian drone strike caused a fire at the site. As one of the world's largest refineries, the plant has the capacity to process 922,000 barrels of crude per day.
Since returning to full potential, the company has increased exports of diesel, naphtha, and jet fuel. These fuel exports have now reached roughly 70% of prewar levels. The restoration comes as refined-product prices remain high due to ongoing regional conflict and Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian refineries.
Before the March strike, the refinery had already been operating at reduced rates. Those limitations were caused by shipping restrictions in the Strait of Hormuz.
