Russian Railways is organizing a new logistics route to transport Russian goods to Armenia via Azerbaijan following the lifting of transit restrictions.
Russian Railways and regional partners are establishing a new logistics route to transport Russian goods to Armenia through Azerbaijan. This development follows a decision by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on October 21 to lift all restrictions on cargo transit to Armenia.
Alexey Overchuk, the Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, announced that Azerbaijan confirmed the possibility of using its railways for this transit. Overchuk stated that the Russian Ministry of Agriculture has been instructed to develop the specific logistics for the shipments. He characterized the current status of the project as having made very interesting progress.
The Government of Armenia welcomed the initiative, describing the opening of these regional communications as having paramount importance for strengthening mutual trust between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
