Autoliv Signs Strategic Safety Partnerships With XPENG and Great Wall Motor

Autoliv Inc. signed cooperation agreements with XPENG and Great Wall Motor to develop advanced safety systems and support the Chinese automakers' global expansion.

Swedish automotive safety supplier Autoliv Inc. signed two major strategic cooperation framework agreements with Chinese automakers to expand its influence in the transition to electric and intelligent mobility. On July 6, 2026, the company partnered with Great Wall Motor to upgrade a two-decade relationship, focusing on supply chain security, localized overseas production, and the development of cutting-edge restraint systems to support Great Wall Motor's international growth.

On July 7, 2026, Autoliv signed a similar framework agreement with XPENG Inc. in Guangzhou. This partnership aims to move beyond a traditional supplier-customer relationship to focus on joint product development, engineering, and digitalization. The collaboration integrates Autoliv's safety expertise with XPENG's advancements in artificial intelligence, autonomous driving, and humanoid robotics.

Autoliv intends to use its global footprint to support XPENG's "Physical AI + Globalization" strategy, which targets doubling overseas sales in 2026. Mikael Bratt, President and CEO of Autoliv, stated that the agreement combines the companies' strengths to make the next generation of mobility safer, emphasizing that safety must be integrated from the beginning as vehicles become smarter.
