Quectel Sues Telit Over Alleged Disinformation Campaign
Quectel Wireless Solutions filed a lawsuit against Telit IoT Solutions, alleging a disinformation campaign that exploited geopolitical tensions to damage its reputation.
Quectel Wireless Solutions filed a lawsuit against competitor Telit IoT Solutions Inc. on October 30, 2026, in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida. The Chinese wireless device manufacturer accuses Telit of conducting a sophisticated disinformation campaign that leveraged geopolitical tensions to harm its customer relationships and reputation.
The complaint alleges that Telit promoted false claims that Quectel's IoT modules allow for manipulation by the Chinese government. Additionally, Quectel accuses Telit of cybersquatting by registering the quectel.us domain to redirect users to a disparaging Wikipedia page. Quectel asserts these actions contributed to the U.S. Department of Defense adding the company to a list of entities aiding Beijing's military in January, which prohibits the Pentagon from procuring its technology.
Quectel is seeking legal remedies for unfair competition, false advertising, and commercial disparagement, maintaining that it cannot remotely control modules sold in the United States. Peter Fowler, Quectel's SVP in the Americas, stated that the legal action is intended to hold Telit accountable for its statements and protect the integrity of fair competition.
