Tennessee Voters Prepare for November 3 General Election

Tennessee voters head to the polls Tuesday to select a governor and other officials following a 45 percent surge in early voting participation.

Tennessee voters will cast ballots on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, to select a governor, U.S. senators, members of Congress, and state lawmakers. The general election follows a significant increase in early voting participation, with over 1.2 million ballots cast between October 14 and October 29, representing a 45 percent rise over the 2022 midterms.

Marsha Blackburn, the Republican gubernatorial nominee and U.S. Senator, is campaigning on a platform of border security, economic growth, and the expansion of state school vouchers. She faces Democratic nominee Jerri Green, a Memphis Councilwoman who proposes defunding the voucher program, voiding the state's contract with private prison operator Core Civic, and ending 287-G immigration enforcement agreements.

Independent candidates David Hatley and Lauren Pinkston also contest the race. Hatley is advocating for a parent bill of rights, bans on Flock cameras, and increased government transparency. Pinkston supports establishing a statewide rail system and redirecting voucher funds toward early childhood education.

Beyond the candidate races, voters will decide on three constitutional amendments. These proposals include expanding the rights of crime victims, banning the state legislature from imposing a state property tax, and allowing courts to withhold bail for specific serious crimes. Polls open at 7:00 a.m. local time on Tuesday.
