Uganda Airlines Launches Flight Route Connecting Entebbe and Accra

Uganda Airlines launched scheduled flights between Entebbe and Accra to reduce travel time and boost trade and investment between East and West Africa.

Uganda Airlines launched a new flight route between Entebbe International Airport in Uganda and Kotoka International Airport in Accra, Ghana, on October 27, 2026. Operating four times weekly using a Boeing 737-800 aircraft, the service includes a stopover in Lagos, Nigeria. This marks the airline's 18th destination and its second in West Africa.

Government officials from both nations described the route as an economic bridge designed to facilitate trade, tourism, and investment. The service reduces travel time to approximately five hours, a significant decrease from previous transit times of seven to ten hours that often required flying through Europe. Round trip fares for the new route start at $550.

The expansion aligns with the African Continental Free Trade Area and the Single African Air Transport Market. To support this growth, the Ugandan government is pursuing a $985 million deal with Boeing for 10 additional aircraft and is seeking further freighter aircraft to enhance the export of high-value goods such as coffee, tea, and pharmaceuticals. The airline is also preparing to launch a route to Kigali on November 18.

To mark the launch, the airline is hosting the Ghana-Uganda Trade and Business Forum in Accra. Officials noted that the route is part of a broader strategy to establish Entebbe as a regional aviation hub.
