Israeli Forces Kill Two Palestinians in Deir Jarir Clash

The Military of Israel shot and killed two Palestinian men, identified as 53-year-old Awda Abdul Rahim Awda Farakhna and 26-year-old Ahmed Adel Rashid Abu Mukh, during an operation in the village of Deir Jarir near Ramallah on Sunday night. The Palestinian Red Crescent Society reported treating multiple victims with gunshot wounds, including one man with an abdominal injury.

Conflicting accounts describe the catalyst for the violence. Deir Jarir Mayor Eid Hamad stated that Israeli settlers, escorted by army and police, raided local sheep pens to take livestock, which led to a confrontation with residents. The Military of Israel reported that troops opened fire to remove a threat after terrorists hurled rocks and concrete blocks at the forces.

Palestinian officials report a broader surge in Israeli attacks involving live fire, arson, and physical assaults in the Ramallah and Al-Bireh governorate. According to the official Palestinian news agency Wafa, at least 1,181 Palestinians have been killed and nearly 24,000 arrested in the occupied West Bank since the start of the Gaza war in October 2023.
