Kodiak AI and PrePass Integrate Driverless Trucks With Roadside Enforcement

Autonomous trucking company Kodiak AI and compliance provider PrePass have launched a collaboration to integrate driverless trucks with existing roadside enforcement systems. The initiative begins in Texas and Louisiana, focusing on how autonomous commercial vehicles interact with weigh stations and inspection sites across state lines.

The system transmits inspection data from Kodiak vehicles through the PrePass platform, allowing enforcement agencies to verify safety information and determine if a truck can bypass roadside screening sites. This integration utilizes the Enhanced Commercial Motor Vehicle Inspection Program developed by the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance, which mandates that a trained inspector confirm a vehicle is free of safety defects before it can operate without a driver.

Kodiak AI is implementing this system to support its objective of starting driverless commercial operations on public highways by the end of 2026. The partnership aims to address critical infrastructure gaps that currently hinder the scaling of autonomous freight transport.
