Maruti Suzuki Plans Seven New SUVs and Capacity Expansion

Following a record-breaking FY 2025-26, Maruti Suzuki India Limited is implementing a significant expansion of its production and product lines. The company achieved its highest-ever annual sales of 24.22 lakh vehicles and exports of 4.47 lakh vehicles, with consolidated revenues reaching ₹1.83 lakh crore.

To sustain this momentum, Managing Director and CEO Hisashi Takeuchi announced the addition of 500,000 units of manufacturing capacity during FY 2026-27. The company plans to introduce seven new SUV models over the next five to six years to strengthen its portfolio and meet evolving customer expectations.

Chairman R C Bhargava projected that the Indian car industry will grow to between 6.1 and 6.3 million units by FY 2030-31. He noted that the small-car segment is expected to grow faster than it did in the previous five years, attributing this potential to GST reforms and a resilient economy. Bhargava also urged the Indian government to accelerate business reforms and use technology to reduce corruption and production costs.

In a move toward sustainability and the government's GOBARdhan scheme, the company board approved an initial ₹561 crore investment to establish four biogas plants. This initiative aims to reduce reliance on imported CNG and support India's Net Zero goals by producing zero-emission fuel.
