Waymo Opens Fully Autonomous Robotaxi Service to All Dallas Residents

Waymo has transitioned its robotaxi service in Dallas from a limited waitlist to full public availability. Starting August 5, 2026, all residents and visitors can download the Waymo app to hail a fully autonomous ride. This follows a phased rollout that began in February, during which the company served approximately 150,000 riders from an interest list.

The Dallas fleet utilizes all-electric Jaguar I-Pace vehicles, with depot operations, charging, and maintenance managed by Avis Budget Group. While the service is now open to the general public, Waymo continues to test operations on Dallas freeways and at Dallas Love Field Airport terminals before authorizing those specific routes for public use.

This expansion follows previous service pauses across Texas and Georgia cities in May caused by heavy rain and flooding. Waymo has indicated it may implement similar temporary pauses in the future during severe weather conditions. In a separate effort to increase accessibility, the company partnered with the Epilepsy Foundation Texas to support independent travel for individuals with medical conditions that prevent them from driving.
