UN and European Nations Condemn Ben-Gvir's Gaza Killing Calls

The United Nations, France, and Germany condemned Israeli Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir after he advocated for the nightly killing of 30 to 40 people in Gaza.

The United Nations, France, and Germany have issued strong condemnations of Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir after he called for the nightly targeted assassination of 30 to 40 people in the Gaza Strip. During a podcast interview, Ben-Gvir argued that these killings should include individuals who do not pose an immediate threat, asserting that some residents are "not even people" and "not worthy of life."

Ben-Gvir further advocated for the mass emigration of Palestinians and the re-establishment of Israeli settlements throughout Gaza, claiming the entire territory belongs to Israel. He criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for reducing Israeli strikes in the enclave, a move viewed as a concession to U.S. President Donald Trump's efforts to advance a truce.

International reactions were swift and severe. UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric described the remarks as "appalling," "dehumanizing," and "dangerous." French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot labeled the comments "intolerable and inhumane," while German Chancellor Friedrich Merz stated the appeals violate international law. German Vice Chancellor Lars Klingbeil added that the comments "must have consequences."

While France has already banned Ben-Gvir from entering the country, European officials are discussing bloc-wide EU sanctions. High Representative Kaja Kallas is expected to submit proposals regarding sanctions against extremist politicians. Domestically, the Democratic Majority for Israel called the remarks "indefensible" and demanded Ben-Gvir's removal from the government, noting that it is not official Israeli policy to kill dozens of Palestinians every night.
