IAC to Close Cottondale Alabama Plant by Year End
International Automotive Components Group North America will permanently close its Cottondale facility on December 31, 2026, eliminating 83 manufacturing jobs.
International Automotive Components Group North America Inc. will permanently close its manufacturing facility in Cottondale, Alabama, on December 31, 2026. The closure will eliminate 83 jobs at the plant, which produces door panels, instrument panels, consoles, and overhead systems for original equipment manufacturers.
The company announced the move via the Alabama Department of Workforce's Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification list. The facility was established in October 2020 following a $34.3 million investment that was originally expected to create 119 jobs.
IAC did not specify a reason for the closure or whether employees will be offered transfers. Donny Jones, CEO of West AlabamaWorks, stated that the auto industry is "very dynamic" and that movement within suppliers is common as products are introduced and phased out.
