PNGRB Authorizes 1,800km LPG Pipeline Expansion for GAIL
The Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board authorized GAIL to build 1,800 kilometers of LPG pipelines across six states with a ₹7,000 crore investment.
The Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board authorized the development of 1,800 kilometers of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) pipeline infrastructure. The project, which requires an estimated capital investment of ₹7,000 crore, will be developed by GAIL (India) Limited.
The new pipelines will traverse Telangana, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Karnataka, and Goa. Specific routes include connections from Cherlapally to Nagpur, Jhansi to Sitarganj, and Shikrapur to Goa and Hubli. This expansion increases India's common carrier LPG pipeline network from 7,700 km to 9,500 km, representing a growth of nearly 23.5%.
The initiative aims to strengthen energy infrastructure and enhance supply chain resilience. By reducing reliance on LPG tank trucks, the project intends to improve road safety and lower overall logistics costs.
