Samsung Investigates Red Tint Defects on Galaxy S26 Ultra
Samsung Electronics is investigating reports of a reddish or pinkish tint affecting the displays of some Galaxy S26 Ultra smartphones and retail demo units.
Samsung Electronics is conducting an internal investigation after numerous users reported a reddish or pinkish tint developing on the displays of the Galaxy S26 Ultra. The defect often manifests as a localized rectangular red mark near the center of the screen, appearing most prominently on white backgrounds, at low brightness levels, or in dark environments.
Reports on social media and community forums such as Reddit and Naver indicate the issue can emerge gradually after two to three months of use, with some cases dating back to the device's March 11 launch. The discoloration has also been observed on retail store demo units subjected to continuous operation. Affected users have attempted temporary mitigation by adjusting white balance to cool settings and increasing vividness.
Speculation regarding the cause centers on the device's Privacy Display technology, which modifies the light-emitting structure to restrict side-angle visibility. Observers suggest this hardware may be causing pixel burn-in or making the tint more noticeable. Other theories include software calibration errors or manufacturing defects. Samsung confirmed to the Korean site Newsway that it is examining the matter internally, though the company has not yet announced formal repairs, replacements, or software updates.
