Dustin Burrows Deploys Millions to Defend Texas House Majority

Texas House Speaker Dustin Burrows is leading an aggressive campaign to protect the Republican majority ahead of the upcoming midterm elections. To secure GOP seats and his own speakership, Burrows has deployed millions of dollars through the Texas Freedom Alliance and his leadership PAC, Texans for a Conservative Majority, which distributed approximately $10.3 million to 38 candidates. These funds support vulnerable Republicans through direct contributions, polling, and advertising. Burrows also launched the Speaker's Strike Force bus tour to mobilize voters across more than two dozen districts.

Democrats are countering this effort by targeting between five and 12 seats. Led by the Texas House Democrats' campaign arm, the party aims to capitalize on high turnout driven by the U.S. Senate race. Democratic leaders claim the party is no longer playing defense and is now forcing Republicans to spend money in every district.

The outcome of these elections will determine the scope of conservative policy ambitions for the next legislative session. The security of the speakership will be finalized by a House vote in January.
