Iran Launches Missile and Drone Strikes on US Bases
The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps attacked US military bases in Kuwait and Bahrain, claiming the strikes were retaliation for American attacks within Iran.
The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps launched a joint missile and drone operation on July 9, 2026, targeting United States military bases in Kuwait and Bahrain. The strikes hit the Arifjan and Ali Al Salem bases in Kuwait, as well as the Juffair and Sheikh Isa bases in Bahrain. Iranian officials described the operation as the first phase of a punitive response to US attacks on southern coastal provinces and two bridges in eastern provinces near Mashhad.
In Bahrain, the Bahrain Defence Force intercepted and destroyed multiple aerial attacks. The military authority stated that Iran is employing a systematic hostile approach by targeting civilians within the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The IRGC warned that any repeated US aggression would lead to expanded crushing responses against other American bases in the region. The United States has not yet detailed the extent of the damage or its official response to the strikes.
