AMD and Microsoft Bring FSR 4.1 Upscaling to Xbox
Microsoft and AMD are integrating FSR 4.1 machine learning upscaling into Xbox handhelds and consoles to improve gaming performance and visual quality.
Microsoft and AMD announced the integration of FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) 4.1 into the Xbox platform. The machine learning-based upscaling technology renders games at lower resolutions and uses AI to generate sharper images, which reduces hardware overhead and increases overall performance.
Microsoft is deploying FSR 4.1 this week for Xbox Ally handheld models, including the base model, Ally X, and Ally X20. Support for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S consoles will follow soon, although the companies did not provide a specific release date.
Xbox CTO Scott Van Vilet stated that the partnership provides developers with a powerful tool to improve visual quality and performance. The companies also revealed Project Helix, an initiative that will utilize FSR Diamond for future developments.
