Conservative Party of B.C. Names Darryl Kropp for Abbotsford-Mission

The Conservative Party of B.C. named Darryl Kropp as its candidate for the Abbotsford-Mission riding ahead of the October 24 provincial election. Kropp, an executive at RedMane Technology, was selected shortly after former MLA Reann Gasper publicly declared her intention to seek the nomination.

Gasper had resigned her seat in August to facilitate a run by former party leader Kerry-Lynne Findlay. However, Findlay resigned as leader following internal party turmoil and will not be running in the election. The situation was further complicated when Premier David Eby dissolved the legislature and called the general election, which cancelled a scheduled September 26 byelection in the riding.

Kropp will compete against Pam Alexis of the BC NDP, Lakhwinder Jhaj of CentreBC, and Jeff Monds of the Libertarian Party of BC. The party highlighted Kropp's background in managing operations at Cascade Aerospace and overseeing a large credit union as evidence of his fiscal responsibility.
