Nintendo Switch 2 became the best-selling game console worldwide in June 2026, leading markets in the Americas and Europe according to VGChartz data.
The Nintendo Switch 2 was the best-selling game console worldwide in June 2026, moving an estimated 915,895 units and bringing its lifetime sales to 21.67 million. The console also led regional markets, selling 429,180 units in the Americas and 229,966 units in Europe. Year-to-date for 2026, the Switch 2 remains the market leader with 6.09 million units sold globally.
Sony Interactive Entertainment's PlayStation 5 ranked second globally with 617,962 units sold in June, followed by Microsoft's Xbox Series X|S in third with 223,268 units. The original Nintendo Switch ranked fourth worldwide with 151,661 units. Notably, June 2026 marked the first time since its 2020 launch that the Xbox Series X|S outperformed the original Nintendo Switch in global monthly sales.
Microsoft saw significant growth in the Americas, where Xbox Series X|S sales rose 83% year-over-year. Analysts attributed this surge to a strong Xbox Showcase and retail discounts at Walmart ahead of a scheduled price increase on August 1, 2026. While the Switch 2 outperformed the original Switch's 2018 launch window by over 57,000 units in the Americas, its own sales dropped 77.9% compared to June 2025. In Europe, all four major platforms showed an upward trend in sales compared to May 2026.
