BJP Marches Through Delhi to Defend Electoral Roll Revisions
The Bharatiya Janata Party held a foot march in Delhi to support electoral roll cleaning and oppose Congress protests over election officials.
The Bharatiya Janata Party conducted a 'Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy' foot march through Chandni Chowk in Delhi on Wednesday. Led by national president Nitin Nabin and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the procession moved from Red Fort Chowk to Town Hall Chowk to oppose Indian National Congress protests regarding the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the special intensive revision of electoral rolls.
BJP leaders defended the revision process as a necessary measure to remove deceased voters and infiltrators from the rolls. During the event, party leadership criticized the opposition's claims of vote theft, asserting that the public remains satisfied with the electoral process.
Reports on the march's impact on local commerce were contradictory. Some traders reported that security measures and the removal of roadside stalls reduced shopper flow during the festive season, while others maintained that business continued normally. The Indian National Congress accused the BJP of hypocrisy, alleging the party disrupted a busy commercial hub while simultaneously criticizing opposition rallies for threatening trade.
