Volta Raises $5.3 Billion to Scale AI Cloud Infrastructure

Cloud provider Volta secured $300 million in equity and a $5 billion financing facility to deploy AI hardware and expand global data center capacity.

Cloud provider Volta raised $300 million in an equity round co-led by Andreessen Horowitz and Altimeter Capital, bringing the company's valuation to $2.4 billion. To support hardware procurement for its clients, the company also secured a $5 billion financing facility arranged by Azora.

Volta employs a business model that treats compute deployment as large-scale infrastructure finance. This approach allows AI laboratories to bypass massive upfront costs for chips and data centers by spreading expenses over long-term asset deals.

To expand its operational capacity, Volta signed a six-year agreement with Anthropic and partnered with Bitdeer to utilize a 133-megawatt data center site in Norway. The company is additionally planning infrastructure expansion projects in Texas and Wyoming.
