European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde is a potential candidate to lead the World Economic Forum starting in 2027. During a board meeting near Geneva, Lagarde reportedly stated she was "ready to serve" and thanked the 28-member board for their confidence in her.

The organization is currently managing a leadership transition following the departure of founder Klaus Schwab. The board is currently co-chaired by Larry Fink and André Hoffmann, who will continue to chair the annual Davos meeting in January 2027.

While the board has not established a specific date for a potential takeover, Lagarde's current term at the European Central Bank is set to expire at the end of October 2027.
