Qatar Post and India Post Launch UPI Remittance Service
Qatar Post and India Post launched a UPI-powered remittance service on August 15 to facilitate digital fund transfers for Indian expatriates in Qatar.
Qatar Post and the Department of Posts of India launched a new remittance service on August 15, 2026, to coincide with India's Independence Day. The service, known as PosTransfer, allows customers in Qatar to send money directly to UPI-enabled bank accounts in India, integrating Qatar's postal network with India's digital public infrastructure.
Developed in collaboration with NPCI International Payments Limited and the Universal Postal Union’s Interconnection Platform, the system is available at Qatar Post outlets, including the LuLu Mall location in Doha. Users can transfer between QAR 10 and QAR 4,000 per transaction, capped at an equivalent of ₹1 lakh, for a flat service fee of QAR 15.
The initiative aims to provide Indian expatriates with a more affordable and accessible digital method for transferring funds to their families. The Department of Posts of India is currently working with other international postal operators to expand similar PosTransfer-powered corridors for cross-border remittances globally.
