Constellation Energy Secures Nuclear Power Deals With Meta and Microsoft

Constellation Energy signed major nuclear power agreements with Meta and Microsoft to meet the increasing electricity demands of artificial intelligence data centers.

Constellation Energy is leveraging its position as the operator of the largest nuclear fleet in the United States to supply electricity to technology firms expanding their artificial intelligence data centers. The company has secured two major agreements: a 20-year contract with Meta Platforms for the entire output of the Clinton nuclear plant and a partnership with Microsoft to restore the Three Mile Island reactor.

As an unregulated power supplier, Constellation sells electricity at market rates. However, the company faces potential political challenges in the mid-Atlantic region. President Donald Trump and various local governors may attempt to cap prices on existing power sources to manage costs.

While startups such as NuScale Power, Oklo, and Nano Nuclear Energy are developing new reactor designs, Constellation maintains its status as the sector's dominant profitable entity due to its established revenue streams and existing infrastructure.
