NSE IPO Reports Trigger Surge in IFCI and New India Assurance
Shares of IFCI and New India Assurance surged after reports that the National Stock Exchange may launch India's largest-ever IPO this month.
Shares of IFCI Ltd and New India Assurance Company rose more than 6% on September 4, 2026, following unconfirmed reports that the National Stock Exchange may launch an initial public offering this month. Investors are anticipating value unlocking for companies holding stakes in the exchange, with New India Assurance holding a direct stake of approximately 1.42% and IFCI maintaining indirect exposure through its 52% ownership of Stock Holding Corporation of India.
Reports indicate the exchange could target a valuation of up to ₹5.26 lakh crore, with a share price between ₹2,000 and ₹2,100. If a 6% stake is sold, the IPO could raise between ₹30,000 crore and ₹31,500 crore, which would potentially make it the largest IPO in Indian history.
Adding to the momentum, State Bank of India Chairman Challa Sreenivasulu Setty indicated that the bank intends to dilute approximately 0.65% of its holding in the exchange.
