Vijay Demands Apology After Stalin Mocks TVK Candidate
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay condemned DMK president M.K. Stalin for allegedly making derogatory and body-shaming remarks about candidate P. Sathyabama.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader C Joseph Vijay demanded an apology from DMK president M.K. Stalin following alleged derogatory remarks made during a campaign event in Dharapuram. During a Friday speech supporting DMK candidate S Suganya, Stalin reportedly mocked TVK candidate P. Sathyabama's physical appearance, referring to her as "Petti Bama" and "Balti Bama," and questioning how she could perform a somersault "with that body."
Vijay described the DMK as a "force of evil" and alleged that the party has a pattern of obscenity toward women. He claimed that Stalin derived "sadistic pleasure" by mocking Sathyabama. Other TVK officials, including ministers K G Arunraj, K A Sengottaiyan, and CTR Nirmal Kumar, joined the condemnation, labeling the comments as body-shaming and an attack on women's dignity. Nirmal Kumar indicated the party would approach the Election Commission regarding the incident.
External critics, including PMK MLA Soumya Anbumani, also denounced the remarks. The controversy unfolds ahead of the October 6 bypoll in Dharapuram, which was triggered after Sathyabama resigned from the AIADMK to join the TVK.
