Alaska Airlines Launches 50th Nonstop Route from San Diego
Alaska Airlines is launching its 50th nonstop route from San Diego to Loreto, Mexico, and plans to build its first dedicated San Diego lounge.
Alaska Airlines announced the launch of its 50th nonstop route from San Diego International Airport to Loreto, Mexico. The seasonal service will operate twice weekly from December 19 through April, establishing the first direct connection between the two cities.
The route launch coincides with the airline's 40th anniversary of serving the San Diego region. To mark the milestone, the company is hosting a series of giveaways, including Atmos Rewards Gold status and a grand prize of 1 million points. Additionally, the airline plans to begin construction next year on its first dedicated airline lounge in San Diego, with an expected opening in 2028.
San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria stated that the new flight is expected to strengthen connections with Mexico. Company executives highlighted the airline's deep roots in the community and its position as the leading carrier serving Mexico from the San Diego market.
