Oba Gbadebo Endorses Oladipupo Adebutu for Ogun Governorship

Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo endorsed PDP candidate Oladipupo Adebutu for the 2027 Ogun State governorship, prompting Adebutu to pledge local government financial autonomy.

Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, publicly endorsed Oladipupo Adebutu for the 2027 Ogun State governorship election. During a visit by Adebutu and his Peoples Democratic Party campaign team to the Egba Traditional Council, the monarch cited the generosity of Adebutu's late father, Chief Kesington Adebukunola Adebutu, as a primary reason for his support.

In response to the endorsement, Adebutu pledged that his future administration would grant full financial autonomy to local governments to improve grassroots development and service delivery. He argued that previous governors from both the APC and PDP had controlled local government allocations, hindering independent council functions.

Adebutu further committed to infrastructure development without borrowing, specifically proposing new roads to enhance connectivity between Ogun State and Lagos. He also stated he would seek private sector partnerships to address electricity needs.
