Aldi UK Redistributes 10.9 Million Meals to Combat Food Waste

Aldi UK redistributed 10.9 million meals to charities, food banks, and community groups across the United Kingdom in 2026, marking a 24 percent increase from the 8.8 million meals provided previously. The initiative operates through a partnership with Neighbourly established in 2019 to mitigate food waste and support families facing rising costs.

During the recent summer school holidays, the retailer focused efforts on regional support. Stores in Dorset donated 18,300 meals, while stores in the Borders region provided more than 4,400 meals to local organizations. The program specifically targets the holiday period when families face higher food costs and children lose access to free school meals.

In addition to the redistribution of surplus stock, the company maintains community donation points in its stores to allow shoppers to contribute food and everyday essentials. The partnership aims to provide charities with practical resources to keep shelves stocked and respond to immediate community needs.
