JetBlue Creditors Hire PJT Partners to Address Debt
JetBlue Airways creditors are working with PJT Partners to stabilize the airline's finances as fuel costs rise and debt reaches 8.5 billion dollars.
A senior creditors group of JetBlue Airways has engaged restructuring adviser PJT Partners to address the airline's precarious financial position. The move follows a year of significant volatility, with JetBlue shares declining 42% in 2026.
Financial reports from June 30 show the carrier holds 8.5 billion dollars in debt and finance lease obligations, contrasted against 1.66 billion dollars in cash and cash equivalents. While travel demand remains steady and airfares have increased, the airline faces severe margin pressure caused by surging jet fuel expenses linked to the war in Iran.
To stabilize its balance sheet, JetBlue is implementing a comprehensive financial and operational overhaul. This strategy focuses on reducing overall costs and expanding the airline's premium service offerings to improve revenue streams.
