Jamie Dimon Predicts $1 Trillion AI Spend and India Growth

JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon projects AI spending will hit $1 trillion next year and predicts India's economy could nearly triple in size over the next decade.

JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon projected that artificial intelligence spending across the hyperscaler ecosystem could reach $1 trillion next year. Speaking at the 11th annual JPMorgan India Conference and during a visit to Mumbai, Dimon noted that spending has already surged from $300 billion last year to $700 billion this year. He characterized AI as an unbelievable technology that could add 1% to GDP annually, though he warned it might cause short-term inflation before providing long-term deflationary effects.

Dimon predicted that India's economy could nearly triple in size over the next decade, calling it likely the fastest-growing economy on the planet. To support this growth, JPMorgan Chase is expanding its Indian footprint, growing its workforce from 6,000 employees in 2025 to 60,000 professionals and increasing research coverage from 200 to 2,000 Indian companies.

Despite his optimism, Dimon criticized the use of local regulations to block foreign competition in India, asserting that such barriers are detrimental to Indian citizens. He urged the governments of India and the United States to finalize a trade agreement to ensure consistent investment rules. On a global scale, Dimon warned that persistent inflation, high government borrowing, and remilitarization could push interest rates higher, though he maintained that the United States remains a strong investment destination.
