ADC Demands Audit of Air Force Funds After Crash

The African Democratic Congress is demanding an audit of Nigerian Air Force maintenance funds following an ATR-42 aircraft crash in Ondo State.

The African Democratic Congress is demanding a full audit of maintenance funds for the Nigerian Air Force after an ATR-42 aircraft crashed in Igbokoda, Ondo State, on Monday. The aircraft was conducting a routine mission from Benin, Edo State, to Lagos when the incident occurred.

In a statement signed by National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi, the party highlighted a significant disparity in government spending. The ADC noted that as of December 2025, the government released only N4.5 billion, or 13 percent, of the N34.71 billion budgeted for Nigerian Air Force aircraft maintenance. In contrast, 97.76 percent of the N20.74 billion allocated for the Presidential Air Fleet was provided.

The party urged the Federal Government to integrate maintenance records, procurement practices, and budgetary releases into the official crash investigation. The ADC argues that this transparency is necessary to ensure accountability and prevent future accidents caused by the neglect of military equipment.
