North Korea Rejects IAEA Resolution and Declares Nuclear Status Absolute

North Korean officials have declared the country's status as a nuclear weapons state absolute and irreversible, rejecting international demands for denuclearization. Kim Yo Jong, sister of leader Kim Jong Un, dismissed calls from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and Western nations as familiar silly talk and noises, stating that only idiots believe the country will abandon its arsenal.

These statements coincided with the 70th regular session of the IAEA General Conference in Vienna, where members urged Pyongyang to dismantle its program in a complete, verifiable, and irreversible manner. The IAEA issued a safeguards report indicating that North Korea has expanded its core nuclear facilities and increased its uranium enrichment capacity. Following the adoption of a resolution calling for the cessation of nuclear activities, Kim Yo Jong characterized the move as a product of extreme double standards and bias, accusing the agency of serving United States interests.

Simultaneously, Vice Defence Minister Kim Kang Il spoke at the Beijing Xiangshan Forum, arguing that a solid nuclear shield is justified by the nuclear threats from the United States, South Korea, and Japan. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea further asserted that the country's nuclear position is permanently fixed by the supreme law of the state and does not require recognition from the West or the IAEA.
