Jake Zimmerman Wins Democratic Primary for St. Louis County Executive

St. Louis County Assessor Jake Zimmerman won the Democratic primary for County Executive on Tuesday, defeating state senators Brian Williams and Angela Walton Mosley. Zimmerman, who has held the assessor's office since 2011, ran on a platform of results-driven leadership and restoring trust in county government.

The race for the open seat began after County Executive Sam Page decided not to seek another term. Zimmerman now moves toward the general election in November, where he will face Republican nominee Dennis Hancock.

Hancock, a St. Louis County councilman, secured the GOP nomination after running unopposed in his primary. The outcome of the general election will determine if Republicans can reclaim the executive office for the first time since 1991.
