Israel Destroys Hezbollah Tunnels and Weapons in Southern Lebanon
The Israel Defense Forces dismantled a fortified tunnel network and eliminated militants in southern Lebanon during operations to neutralize Hezbollah infrastructure.
The Israel Defense Forces conducted a series of operations in southern Lebanon's Security Zone between July 9 and July 10, 2026, targeting Hezbollah infrastructure and personnel. On July 9, the 551st Brigade and Yahalom Unit destroyed two tunnel routes in Majdal Zoun. The fortified network spanned approximately 200 meters in length and reached depths of 20 meters, containing living quarters, weapons, and three launch shafts directed toward Israeli territory.
Following the tunnel demolitions, the IDF expanded operations on July 10. Using precise aerial strikes, the military eliminated a Hezbollah member emerging from an underground access shaft at Ali al-Taher Ridge and targeted a second suspect in a vehicle. Simultaneously, the Golani Brigade uncovered weapons storehouses filled with missiles, launchers, and explosive devices.
Over the course of the week, the IDF reported eliminating two armed militants near these tunnel sites. The military stated it will continue operating to remove threats to its soldiers and prevent Hezbollah from utilizing underground infrastructure to harm Israeli civilians.
