Squarespace Lays Off 300 Employees After Permira Acquisition
Squarespace is cutting 19 percent of its workforce to simplify operations and accelerate growth following its acquisition by private equity firm Permira.
Squarespace is laying off approximately 300 employees, which accounts for 19 percent of its 1,800-person workforce. The company stated the reductions are intended to simplify operations, sharpen priorities, and accelerate the transition into its next growth phase.
These cuts follow a period of significant investment in artificial intelligence, including the 2024 launch of the Blueprint AI tool. The restructuring occurs after the private equity firm Permira completed its acquisition of the platform.
Impacted workers will receive 16 weeks of base pay and healthcare benefits extending into May 2027. Spokesperson Jeff Seedman stated that the company is providing comprehensive support to help departing colleagues through the transition.
