Uber Shares Slump as Waymo Partnership Faces Breakdown

Uber Technologies Inc. faces investor scrutiny and a stock price decline following reports that Waymo is exploring an exit from its exclusive robotaxi partnership.

Uber Technologies Inc. has seen its share price decline 28 percent since October 2025 as investors grow concerned over its robotaxi strategy. The slump follows the June wind-down of a robotaxi partnership with Waymo in Phoenix and subsequent reports in late July indicating that Waymo is exploring options to exit its exclusive pact with Uber.

Investors are demanding concrete deployment data to demonstrate that autonomous vehicle integration can effectively expand Uber's ride-hailing business. Despite these structural challenges, CEO Dara Khosrowshahi has reported healthy trends in the markets where Waymo currently operates.

The company is expected to report a 13 percent year-on-year increase in second-quarter revenue on August 5. While the partnership with Alphabet Inc.'s subsidiary remains unstable, a majority of Wall Street analysts continue to maintain a buy rating on the stock.
