Apple Launches Device Leasing Program With Klarna Partnership

Apple introduced Apple Upgrade, a leasing program for iPhones, iPads, Macs, and Apple Watches in the United States through a partnership with Klarna.

Apple Inc. launched Apple Upgrade, a new device leasing program in the United States developed in partnership with Klarna. The initiative replaces the former iPhone Upgrade Program and iPhone Payments offering, expanding leasing options to include iPhones, Apple Watches, Macs, and iPads through monthly plans.

Lease terms span 12 to 36 months depending on the hardware. Monthly payments begin at 11.99 dollars for iPads and Apple Watches, 17.99 dollars for iPhones, and 24.99 dollars for Macs. Upon completing a term, customers have the option to return the device, purchase it with a single payment, or upgrade to a newer model.

Applicants undergo a soft credit check managed by Klarna that does not impact credit scores. The program is accessible through Apple retail stores, the company website, and its official app. The shift toward subscription-style payments is intended to mitigate rising hardware costs and encourage customers to upgrade devices more frequently.
