Azerbaijan Facilitates Three Russian Grain Shipments to Armenia

Azerbaijan facilitated three shipments of Russian grain to Armenia this week following the lifting of transit restrictions in October 2025.

The Government of Azerbaijan facilitated three separate shipments of Russian grain to Armenia between August 15 and August 21, 2026. The first shipment on August 15 consisted of 1,820 tons of wheat, followed by 2,725 tons on August 20, and a final batch on August 21 containing 1,108 metric tons of wheat and 273 metric tons of barley.

These shipments departed from the Bilajari station and headed toward Boyuk Kesik. Since President Ilham Aliyev lifted restrictions on goods moving to Armenia in October 2025, the total volume of grain transported from Russia via Azerbaijani territory has risen to over 47,000 metric tons. Other Russian materials moved through this route include 9,000 metric tons of fertilizer, as well as propane, coal, aluminum, and timber.

Beyond facilitating Russian transit, Azerbaijan has exported approximately 15,000 metric tons of diesel and 5,000 metric tons of gasoline directly to Armenia. Armenian authorities state that the resumption of these transit flows fulfills agreements reached in the United States intended to strengthen peace between Yerevan and Baku.
