China Launches Security Review of Palo Alto Networks

The Cybersecurity Review Office of the Cyberspace Administration of China has launched a formal security review into products sold by Palo Alto Networks Inc. in the Chinese market. The agency cited national security laws and the need to protect critical information infrastructure as the basis for the probe.

This regulatory action follows a government directive instructing Chinese companies to avoid cybersecurity products from American and Israeli firms. The move is a response to previous claims by Palo Alto Networks that Chinese hackers breached the email servers of foreign ministers as part of a global campaign targeting diplomatic communications.
