Indian Family Office Assets Projected to Grow 1.5 Times
Indian family office assets are expected to grow 1.5 times over three years, driven by a massive intergenerational wealth transfer and a shift toward alternative assets.
Assets managed by Indian family offices, estimated at ₹70,000 crore in 2024, are projected to grow 1.5 times over the next three years. A report titled 'Indian Family Office Playbook: Now, Next and Beyond' by Julius Baer Group and EY India forecasts a 14 percent compound annual growth rate for these assets.
This expansion is fueled by a projected intergenerational wealth transfer of $1.3 trillion to $1.5 trillion over the next decade. The number of ultra-high-net-worth individuals in India is expected to increase from 19,000 to more than 25,000 by 2031. Consequently, family offices are transitioning from traditional wealth preservation toward professionally managed institutional structures with a focus on governance and AI-enabled analytics.
Investment patterns are shifting toward alternative assets, including private equity, venture capital, and private credit, which now make up 40% to 45% of allocations. Capital is increasingly flowing into disruptive sectors such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, renewable energy, and climate technology.
