Democrats Secure Nominations for Wisconsin 7th and 8th Districts

Rick Crosson won the Democratic primary for Wisconsin's 8th Congressional District on August 12, 2026, securing approximately 35 percent of the vote. A retired U.S. Army lieutenant colonel and former member of the Green Bay Area Public School District Board of Education, Crosson defeated candidates Mark Scheffler and Katrina deVille. He will challenge Republican incumbent U.S. Representative Tony Wied in the general election on November 3. The Democratic Party has not held the 8th District seat since 2008.

On the same day, Fred Clark won the Democratic primary for Wisconsin's 7th Congressional District with 37 percent of the vote. A former Wisconsin State Legislator, Clark criticized the current Congress as an "abject failure for northern Wisconsin" and argued that federal government inaction negatively impacts local quality of life.

Clark will face Republican candidate Michael Alfonso in the November 3 general election. Alfonso is seeking to become the youngest member of Congress and is the son-in-law of a former representative who held the 7th District seat for nine years before stepping down in 2019.
