XDC Network Launches Agentic AI Payments Framework
XDC Network launched XDC AI to allow AI assistants to execute autonomous financial transactions using stablecoins and a machine-payments standard.
The XDC Network launched XDC AI, an agentic payments framework that enables AI assistants to execute financial transactions autonomously. Introduced at a New York event in late July, the system integrates the x402 machine-payments standard and Circle's USDC stablecoin for gasless settlement, while utilizing Anthropic's Model Context Protocol to link AI agents with external tools.
Co-founder Atul Khekade stated the framework is currently in pilot production with fintech providers and banks, with a planned rollout to Fortune 500 companies within three months. Khekade argued that blockchain wallets are essential because traditional banks typically refuse to open accounts for software agents.
This development places XDC Network in a competitive market alongside Google, OpenAI, Ripple, Visa, and Mastercard, all of whom have deployed similar infrastructures. While the technology advances, regulators in Singapore and the United Kingdom are developing safeguards to address the risks of probabilistic AI making independent financial decisions.
