Tesla Beats Q3 Delivery Estimates Amid Robotaxi Pivot
Tesla reported third-quarter vehicle sales of 486,532, exceeding analyst expectations despite a broader decline in the United States electric vehicle market.
Tesla sold 486,532 vehicles in the third quarter, surpassing Wall Street projections of 462,000 to 463,761 deliveries. Although this represents a 2% decrease year-over-year, the company outperformed the wider U.S. electric vehicle market, which saw August sales plunge 47% compared to 2025 after a $7,500 tax credit expired.
Despite the sales beat, Tesla's share price has dropped more than 20% this year. Investors have shifted their focus toward the company's robotics and autonomous vehicle initiatives. Tesla began integrating Cybercab robotaxis into its fleet in September and intends to produce Optimus humanoid robots by the end of the year.
Elon Musk has also suggested a possible merger between Tesla and Space Exploration Technologies Corp. The aerospace company has maintained a market capitalization higher than Tesla's since June.
